The Military Heritage Centre was a little light on material but it was built in the ammunition storage area of a 2 gun 6" Coastal Artillery Battery that had similar guns to those that were at Point Grey and Stanley Park/Yorke. I didn't find it appropriate that they would convert a gun platform into a flag stand and the memorial in the ammunition bunker listed all the infantry regiments that had been stationed at Gibralter over the years (it was a very long list) and at the bottom simply stated that the Royal Artillery and Engineers had been there as well since the beginning.
Saint Michael's Cave provided a colourful light show inside a large cavern of stalamites and staligmites. Seating had been installed for hundreds to watch musical concerts and other events. We need to find one of these on Yorke Island! or under Point Grey!
Took the cable car to the top of the rock and walked to O'Hara's Battery. Weather was windy with rain off and on. O'Hara's Battery was a WW2 two gun 9.2" coastal artillery instalation. Projectiles and charges were styrofoam replicas.. Uniforms were all a bit moth eaten.
Made a day trip over to Gibraltar to check out our connection with 21 (Gibraltar) Regiment RA and to look for comparisons to Yorke Island. First off, of course its a lot bigger and a lot older.
