Joe Phelan with a 3 Ton military vehicle loaded with the Regimental Band dressed up as Tyrolean yodelers with Clifton John giving them a miniature cannon send off before they drive through the streets of Vancouver with a Regimental flag on the back. New names and photos for the nominal roll.
Ames; Black; Botting, Bill; Hallitt, Civ; Hicklenton; Overholt, JD; Patch, Scott; Pearson; Peck, HWJ. Details on each member are rather sparse at the moment. Please let me know if you have additional information on any of the names. Between 1939 and 1959, the artillery units in Vancouver went through some rather dramatic changes. These include conversion from field to coastal, the introduction of anti-aircraft artillery, the conversion from heavy to medium anti-aircraft and then the subsequent conversion of all units back to its origins - Field Artillery.
These changes have now been captured on the website through the addition of about 40 new pages to include the different permutations that the Regiment went through during that period. However, I must remind you that this is a work in progress. There are many, many details still to be discovered (Who was the CO of the Vancouver Coast Regiment, RCA in 1948/49? Who was the RSM?) Please let me know if you find any errors or omissions that I may have missed in my review. You, the former Gunners of these Regiments, are my editors and my contributors. Keep those pictures and stories coming! How many of the following Commanding Officers can you recognize out of the 36 shown? |
