Battlefield Tour 2020
15th Field Artillery Regiment RCA will conduct a battlefield tour of Northern France and Belgium as part of the Regiment's 100 year anniversary. The intent of this page is to assist in the planning of the event.
SITREP – EUROPEAN BATTLEFIELD TOUR - 14 April 2009
1. The President of the Vancouver Artillery Association is handling the flight arrangements and accommodation for most of the people on the tour. There are several exceptions to this as some people have sufficient points to travel to Europe while others actually live there.
2. At this time we have 20 people booked or the tour and the planning will move forward using that figure. Our aim now is to finalize some of the finer points. A revised tour itinerary has been uploaded.
3. Flights are based on flying from Vancouver to Paris on Saturday, 18 April 2020 with a return flight departing on Saturday, 2 May 2020.
4. Accommodation is planned for a large chateau in the Swiss/Normandy region for 5 nights followed by by a similar enterprise near Ypres for 7 nights and a final night at Charles de Gaulle airport prior to our return flight.
5. Transportation is minimized through the use of rental cars picked up at the airport on arrival. This requires volunteers to drive but provides the flexibility of timings and alternate routes.
6. Pricing is based on providing breakfasts with lunches and dinners extra. This allows flexibility in daily schedules. A lunch fund may be established at each location to allow for the purchase of do it yourself lunch material (baguettes, cheese and deli meats). There may also be the opportunity of barbecue nights where all will chip in for the meal.
7. Financial estimates will be about $ 2,000.00 per person to include flights and most accommodation.
8. Additional expenses for individuals may include local cell phone coverage at approx. $ 40.00, lunches and dinners at approx. $ 1,400.00 and petrol purchases at $ 100.00 per person.

Teams
Travel is intended to be by economical cars with each assigned a three/four person team. The team may be smaller if more personal space is required but this will incur an additional cost for the team (travel costs split 3 ways instead of 4!) Teams can be formed ahead of time.
Team #1 - Advance Party - Leon Jensen / Catherine Gagnon
