Regimental Sword - Brigadier-General William (Bill) T Wickett CD
Brigadier-General William (Bill) Thomas Wickett CD joined the 43rd Medium Anti-Aircraft Regiment RCA on 16 February 1953. He was promoted Bombardier in 1954 and then promoted Sergeant in 1957. He transferred to the 15th Field Regiment RCA in 1959 and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant on 16 November 1960, promoted Lieutenant in 1962, promoted Captain in 1966 and promoted Major on 1 October 1969. On 19 October 1973, he was promoted Lieutenant-Colonel and appointed the Commanding Officer 15th Field Artillery Regiment, The Royal Regiment of Canadian Artillery. After his term as Commanding Officer he was promoted Colonel and appointed Commander, Victoria Militia District. A subsequent promotion to Brigadier-General also came with the appointment of Area Commander, Pacific Militia Area. He was also appointed aide de camp to the Governor-General and elected as the President of Royal Canadian Artillery Association. After a well deserved break after his tour as ARea Commander, he came back to the Regiment as the Honorary Lieutenant-Colonel and then Honorary Colonel.
The sword is an Artillery Officers' Sword "based on the 1822 Light Cavalry pattern, this sword features a slightly curved and spear-pointed carbon steel blade. The hilt is a half-basket in nickel-plated steel with three fluted bars and a grip in black fish-skin bound with silver-plated copper wire. The pommel is a stepped design." Pooley Swords
