Read the story here. ![]() Brigadier-General Wickett, the Commanding Officer of 15th Field Artillery Regiment, RCA from 1973 until 1978 has passed away 16 January 2025. Obituary and funeral arrangement details to follow. Brigadier-General Wickett joined the 43rd Medium Anti-Aircraft Regiment RCA on 16 February 1953 and was promoted Sergeant in 1957. He transferred to the 15th Field Regiment RCA in 1959 as the two units were amalgamated. On 16 November 1960 he was commissioned Second Lieutenant and rose through the commissioned ranks until he was promoted Lieutenant-Colonel and appointed Commanding Officer of the 15th Field Artillery Regiment RCA on 19 October 1973. Promotions continued as he was promoted Colonel and appointed District Commander of the Victoria Militia District, followed by his promotion to Brigadier-General and appointment Area Commander, Pacific Militia Area. During his career he was appointed aide de camp to Governor-General for a period and also took on the task of being the President of the Royal Canadian Artillery Association. He was recognized for his service with the presentation of the Queen Elizabeth II Silver Jubilee Medal and the Canadian Forces Decoration with two Bars. He was also honoured by his Regiment with his appointment as Honorary Lieutenant-Colonel and Honorary Colonel. End of Mission, Brigadier-General Wickett, Stand Easy. The Regiment held their annual Christmas event which included the Regimental photo, awards and promotions. The Commanding Officer exchanged shirts with the youngest Gunner and the Regimental Sergeant Major exchanged shirts with the eldest Bombardier, Bombardier Martinez. Congratulations to all! On New Year's Day, the Warrant Officers' and Sergeants' Mess held their traditional New Year's Levee breakfast which was a great success! Eight serving members, former members, associates and spouses attended. From left to right: Warrant Officer Brenda Woods, Ms. Catherine Gagnon, Colonel (ret'd) Leon Jensen, Captain (ret'd) Richard Van Slyke, Warrant Officer Kyle Hodgson, Captain Ken Keene, Bombardier (ret'd) Doug Butler, Sergeant Donato Calogero.
After the breakfast there was the traditional New Years Day Levee in the Mess. |
