![]() Major-General (ret'd) Stu McDonald has provided the names of two former members which have been added to the nominal roll. Shoeing Smith David Kidd Cook and Second Lieutenant Roderick Orrison Cutler both enlisted with the 68th Overseas Depot Battery, Canadian Field Artillery, CEF in Vancouver and returned to the city after the war. The 15th Field Regiment was very involved in the formation of the Canadian Defence Association. Lieutenant-Colonel Perry, the Commanding Officer, was selected by the Canadian Artillery Association and Colonel Foster, the Honorary Colonel, was selected by the Canadian Infantry Association to form a committee on 12 February 1932. By 24 November, the Canadian Defence Association had been formed.
A construction project at the Pacific National Exhibition grounds has uncovered a World War I German gun. Was this a remnant of the war trophy that was emplaced in front of Bessborough Armoury in 1932? The Bessborough gun was sent off to the scrap yard to support the World War II effort. Was the barrel too tough for the process?
