Recruiting Letter
The local schools have always been a traditional recruiting area for the Regiment. Did you attend one of the information sessions? Reminder
Bessborough Officer's Mess lunch - Closed for holiday June 20 and 27, 2018 The Vancouver Artillery has arranged for the transfer of a Quick Firing 18 Pounder from Base Wainwright to the 15th Fd Artillery Regt Museum & Archives. Just a few photos from Cougar Salvo 2000. Have you got some more that you could send me? president.vcrgunners@gmail.com
The passing of a former member of the Regiment has been noted in the 2007 yearbook. David Henry Kachel (Feb. 20, 1954 - Feb. 6, 2007) was a Gunner in 15th Field Artillery Regiment RCA in 1971.
The hunt for 9 Pounders across Canada has been quite successful! We now have 20 guns listed on our 9 pounder club page. Have I missed yours? Have I missed one that you've seen in your travels across Canada? Have you got any of the missing info? Drop me a line at president@vcrgunners.ca
I'm also on the hunt for any drawings with dimensions for 9 pounder equipment such as a limber, rammer, sponge bucket, display, ammunition, etc. Do you own a 9 Pounder? Have you seen one on your travels? Let's try and find as many of them as possible and see if we can discover their joint history. Here's the new 9 Pounder Club page. Overall photos - Front, sides and rear; detail cypher, trunnion and barrel markings. Wheel photos and finally photos of the gun stores.
Seasons Greetings from the Commanding Officer and Officers
The three guests pictured have all been awarded honorary ranks in the Warrant Officers' & Sergeants' Mess, the Master Gunner as a Warrant officer Class I and the two other guests as Staff Sergeants. Can anyone name those two other guests? |
