Vancouver was a popular spot for visitors in 1967. The Regiment fired salutes for several visiting naval vessels and for Princess Alexandra. It appears there were less news articles about the Regiment but that may well be due to the increased "artillery" stories from Vietnam and the Middle East. Check out the stories added to the 1967 yearbook page here.
Just received some photos from Michigan, USA of 68th Battery, 16th Brigade, North Russia Expeditionary Force trench art. Check out the photos in the 2021 yearbook.
The Regiment had another busy year firing salutes for a visiting naval vessel, the accesion of the Queen, Birthdays and Dominion Day (or was it Canada Day?) There were exercises in Wainwright and the Chilcotin. There was a huge Armed Forces Day parade at the stadium and constant recruiting ads. Check out all the news clippings from 1966 here.

Newspaper articles have been added. ![]() An additional week of Corporal John Helmcken's Diary from his time with the 58th Battery, Canadian Field Artillery are now online. Catch up with him from the last week of August 1917 here. Added a great article, If These Walls Could Talk: A Site for Art, Architecture and Defence, by Bonnie Sun, Senior Marketing and Communications Manager, Museum of Anthropology in 2018. It provides an insight into the construction of the Museum and it's relationship to the military. You might even recognize one of the names in the story. Check it out in our 2018 yearbook here.
Yorke Island - LUSAR Exercise
It's a new adventure for Yorke Island! 15th Field Artillery Regiment has returned to it's World War II roots as a coastal artillery unit in order to conduct Light Urban Search and Rescue (LUSAR) training for members of its LUSAR team. The current condition of the buildings on the island and the fallen timber presented a realistic scenarios for the soldiers to practice their hazard assessments and their chainsaw skills. The 85VICS were invaluable as the local knowledge team on the ground having considerable contacts with the members of the community. See more... The Minister of National Defence announces efficiency cuts throughout the military. 15th Field Artillery Regiment loses 210th Battery but gains the 5th Battery in Victoria. The Regiment wins big in trophies for proficiency and the Military Ball is the big social event of the year. The salute schedule is busy as is the Ladies Auxiliary. The Commanding Officer visits the Master Gunner of St James's Park. Check out the stories here.
The Regiment had another busy year in 1962 with the visit of the Master Gunner of St. James's Park, the band trip to the Seattle Worlds Fair, Area Commander's Inspection and a visit from the Director of Artillery. With all these events, plus a recruiting drive, it's no wonder the Regiment advertised in the newspaper that additional Artillery swords were required. Have you got one to spare? Check out the stories here.
