Personnel caricatures appear to have been trendy back in the 1920s and 1930s. You can find several examples throughout the Armoury. Either that or we had a resident artist similar to our Captain Graeme Stewart in the 1980s. This topic came up recently when we were at the RCA reunion in Shilo and they had a company come in with robot arm artistry - your picture was taken and the robot arm drew your caricature face atop whatever scene they had selected. Imagine if we had one of those set up in the museum. Visitors could put on a helmet, a beret or whatever and walk away with a picture drawn with the unit's name in the header or footer. Or we could recreate the caricature posters from the 20s/30s. Good advertising? How much would this cost? A four hour rental of 2 machines cost $1,250.00 + tax +a 7.5% Damage Waiver/Safety Compliance Fee. Ouch! The purchase of one robot arm - $2,950 (each additional arm - $1,000) includes Sketchbot software license, 1 Bot (robotic arm) with protective travel case, iPad SketchBot portrait capture app (unlimited usage), 1 SketchBot platform and base, Dream Studio for advanced caricatures and portraits, full support for caricatures via local Ai, starter 4”x6” paper and pens and full support to get us up and running, along with continued support. Plus a fee of $599.00 per year after the first year. That's an ouch as well. Does anyone have $4,000.00 that they would like to donate for a charitable tax receipt? Check out the video here. |
