Yorke Island - 6 until 30 August 2024
The Vancouver Artillery Association planned to be on Yorke Island from Tuesday, 6 August until Friday, 30 August 2024. Unfortunately, there were no volunteers available so we have had to postpone until a future time.
There will lots of room available for anyone that wants to come along either for exploring Yorke Island's artillery heritage, assisting in the construction of a new outhouse, assisting in the Master Gunner's Residence project, fishing in the waters nearby or simply kicking back and relaxing.

Monday, 5 August - Camper Van and Iltis depart Vancouver for the Island. There's room available and individuals wishing to join in only need to pay for their ferry ride over. (donations for gas and ferry ride are always welcome!)
Iltis dropped of at Marine Link north of Campbell River.
Tuesday, 6 August - Camper Van parked at Kelsey Bay. Small boat departure heads over to Yorke Island.
Iltis offloaded from Aurora Explorer and supplies moved to Fort area. Relaxing day with tours.
Wednesday, 7 August - Fort clean up day.
Thursday, 8 August until Friday, 23 August - This entire period is open to treks throughout the island, outhouse construction, Master Gunner's Residence work and relaxation activities.
Saturday, 24 August - 85th Anniversary of 85th Battery arriving on Yorke Island. We'll invite the local community and other interested individuals to come over and tour what's happening on Yorke. Intent is to charter a vessel to bring a load of visitors over from Kelsey Bay at Noon and return at 1600.
Friday, 30 August - Aurora Explorer arrives to pick up Iltis.
Saturday, 31 August - Camper Van and Iltis return to Vancouver.

The above schedule is subject to weather and the purchase of a suitable small, aluminum boat to navigate the channel. It is the intent to have the boat small enough to pull up on the beach at Yorke Island.
