Mess Constitution
The document is undated but we do know that the 102nd Coast Regiment was formed on 29 September 1949 and amalgamated with 43rd Heavy Anti-Aircraft Regiment RCA on 31 December 1954. The document is also untitled and I would suggest that it is the “Standing Orders” for the Officers’ Mess. Interesting parts include, “a member of the Mess in good standing for three years or more will receive a silver cigarette box suitably engraved on retirement”, “no ladies name shall be mentioned and the topics of religion or politics shall never be discussed in the mess”, “to say grace which will be done while everyone is seated” and “a bugler will call the officers mess call or the Ingledow battery will be fired.”
