BATTLE REPORT
From somewhere in Western Canada
Usually reliable sources report that a contingent of dedicated troops captured and held the high ground located in general area described as Bessborough Armories on the evening of 9 May '80.
The contingent of seventy-six included experienced troops and more experienced wives. Senior officer present, Brig. Theo Du Moulin, congratulated the victors on their successful conquest and was supported by Lt. Col. Bill Jackson. Padre Major Jim Whittles paid tribute to fallen comrades. Security does not permit release of further details of the action other than to confirm that the campaign was successful.
There were no known casualties. Campaign decorations were presented to all combatants.
A debriefing of a few surviving veterans was held on the some battlefield at 1200hrs. Wednesday 14 May '80. It was proposed that:
1. A nominal roll be issued to all former members with:
a) a notation of the names of the ad hoc committee that put this thing together.
b) a notation of those who attended.
c) a request for help to locate the whereabouts of those on lost trails.
d) a request that you advise a committee member if you move, change phone numbers, etc.
2. We should hold a similar exercise in o few years’ time.
3. We should solicit opinions from all who wish to submit them about:
a) when - 2, 3, 5 years?
b) program ideas.
Please submit to any ad hoc committee member.

Junior Officers Dinner
Bessborough Armoury Officers' Mess with Lieutenant-Colonel Stu McDonald with an inflatable substitute for Ted Hoskinson (our mess associate and painter) at the head table. Lieutenants CIY Young, Siobhan Connolly, Leo Kung, Ed Bryce and Captain John Carter with Corporal Jennifer Ritchie serving soup.
It appears that a bit of gamesmanship has begun after dinner. Lieutenant Tony Jewells, supported by others, has decided to tack up Ian Newby's pistol holster to a ceiling beam. As the PMC of the dinner Ian had used the pistol, with blanks, in lieu of a gavel.
The rules of the tunnel game have never, to my knowledge, been written down. It involves crawling through a maze of overturned chairs and couches with a race between the two teams to navigate the labyrinth. The final picture is that of the Commanding Officer being held back as members of his relay try to pull him through the tunnel.
