UN Forces in Cyprus (UNIFICYP)
In the interest of international peace and security, the Mission was established in March 1964 to use its best efforts to prevent the recurrence of fighting between the Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots and, as necessary, to contribute to the maintenance and restoration of law and order and a return to normal conditions. Since the hostilities of 1974, the mandate has included supervising the cease-fire and maintaining a buffer zone between the lines of the Cyprus National Guard and of the Turkish and Turkish Cypriot forces. Private Grayham C Partridge deployed with the Canadian Contingent. See more.. |

24 Aug 1990 - Forward Observation Officers Course, Shilo MB
A tale that should be told from the FOO course is that of a commissioned Regimental Sergeant Major taking his first course as a student. Day 1 set the tone as the instructors were gathered at the front of the classroom and identifying the students from the nominal roll. Overhead, amidst their whisperings were the words, “Which one was the RSM?” See more... |

Yakima Exercise March 1990
Another wonderful day at Yakima Firing Centre with clear blue sky and the burning sun. The Cam nets provide a slight bit of shade but it gets real hot by noon. The Command Post displays the large red range flag while the ammunition is delivered to the gun line. The Commanding Officer, Lieutenant-Colonel John Carter and the Regimental Sergeant Major Master Warrant Officer Dave Levien having a discussion along the dusty road. See more...

MILCON 90 (or did we call it On Guard 90? or was it Oh God 90?)
It's not often that we have a complete Militia Regiment deployed for a summer concentration. Here's eighteen guns with representatives from 5 (BC) Bty to 116 Ind Bty lined up in the field in Wainwright. It appears that Lieutenant-Colonel John Carter is running off to a meeting after talking with the Regimental Sergeant Major Master Warrant Officer Dave Levien. There's a lot of vehicles when you get an entire regiment lined up ready to move. See more...
