Gunner Douglas Corsor Jr. Memorial Trophy
The Gunner Douglas Corsor Jr. memorial trophy was created by his close friends in the Regiment, Gunner Noel RR Dykes, Gunner Joseph C. Gauthier, Gunner R. Gerard, Gunner H. Harsch and Gunner V. Hughes after his untimely death in a vehicle accident in 1974. It is presented to the Gunner that most exemplifies the best characteristics of being a Gunner. This award for 1986/1987 is presented to Gunner Nick Watts.

Winter Exercise 1987
Winter Exercise in Pemberton, BC. This time we've left the toboggans behind and deployed with our guns in winter conditions. We've also brought along our kitchen trailer for that nice hot breakfast in the morning. Sunny Wainwright for a week long Militia Concentration with the remainder of Pacific Militia Area. The guns provided a battery from 15th Field and a Battery from 5th (BC) bivouacked in the field for the entire time. Master Bombardier Healy organized the kitchen with support from National Guard augmentees. When doling out the staff Headquarter sent the pastry chef to the Guns. Talk about an excellent boost to morale. Whenever he heard that it was someone's birthday or special event - boom - there was a special cake at the next meal! See more...

Commanding Officer's Parade
The Commanding Officer's parade included the graduation of the recruit course. Pte(R) Rob Wishnicki is marching to the right of Sergeant Colin Parkinson. The course provided a demonstration of section drills as part of the parade.

This trophy is awarded to the most efficient member of the Sergeants’ Mess as determined by the displayed rating system. It is awarded at the Sergeants’ Mess Annual Mess Dinner for their activities in the previous year. The winner for his service in 1986 is Warrant Officer Dave K Levien. |

Regimental Wedding
Sergeant Paul Roberts married Connie Jensen with a sword party from the Warrant Officers and Sergeants Mess. Warrant Officer David Levien, Sergeant Layne Yoshimaru, Sergeant Amnon Lichtmann, Warrant Officer James Jacobson, Warrant Officer Clifton John, Sergeant Nona Shorey and Sergeant Brad Shorey. Chief Warrant Officer Leon Jensen’s daughter, Amanda, was the flower girl and appears to not trust guys with swords. |
M109 155mm Self Propelled Howitzer
The Canadian Forces Exhibit at the Pacific National Exhibition featured an M109 155mm Self Propelled Howitzer. At the conclusion of the fair there were a few days when transport was not available to return it to CFB Shilo. What better home than at Bessborough Armoury. Amazingly enough it fit!

Major John Alexander Ganshorn
Past President of the B.C. Medical Association 1952-53, passed away peacefully on June 8, 1987 at the age of 79. A dedicated surgeon, he had an outstanding career as a senior member of the Canadian Medical profession. John was born in Grand Coulee, Saskatchewan in 1908. He graduated in medicine at the University of Manitoba winning the Governor General’s Gold Medal. He obtained his M.S. in Surgery from the Mayo Clinic in Rochester in 1939.he married Irene (nee Cameron) in 1934 moving t Vancouver in 1939. He joined the Canadian Army Medical Corp, and served overseas for 3 years eventually earning the rank of Major in the 21st Army Group. He saw duty in England, Sicily, Italy and Belgium. Major Ganshorn arrived on Yorke Island 12 September 1939 as a Captain with the Royal Canadian Army Medical Corps. |

Served overseas with the 5th Anti-Tank Regiment, R.C.A., and was Mentioned in Despatches. Member of the 34th Field Regiment R.C.A., Montreal, and the 15th Field Regiment R.C.A., Vancouver. Grand Knight Elect, Knights of Columbus. Suddenly in Montreal, on June 8, 1987, aged 75 years. Survived by his loving family: wife, Margherita; children, Elizabeth (Mrs. Antoine Maloney) of Montreal, Que., Cathrin (Mrs. Thomas Fischer of New York, N.Y., Doctor Michael (daughter-in-law Gisele) of Prince Rupert, and Joan (Mrs. Hans Toom) of Thunder Bay, Ont. Beloved brother of William and James (sister-in-law, Norah) of Ottawa, Ont., Eleanor (Mrs. John de R. Warren) of Pointe-au-Pic, Que, and Frederick of Toronto, Ont.; brothers-in-law, Charles W. Bourgeois (Cecilia) of Victoria, and George Quinn of Ottawa, Ont. |

Lieutenant-Colonel Horace Wesley Joangus Peck ED
H.W. Joe, born March 26, 1915 in Victoria, B.C. passed away suddenly on May 22, 1987 in Sidney, B.C. After graduating from McGill University, he joined the militia and following the outbreak of war in 1939, went overseas and served in the Canadian Army with distinction in England and north-west Europe for 6 years. He subsequently served as Commanding officer with the 102nd Coast Artillery, Vancouver, attaining the rank of Lt. Colonel. During his varied career he held senior engineering positions with the B.C. Electric Co., B.C. Hydro, Expo 67 (Montreal) and Oxford Leaseholds (Edmonton, Alta). Lieutenant-Colonel Peck was Commanding Officer 102nd Coast Regiment, RCA from 1952 to 1954. |
