Located on the corner of West Broadway and Arbutus, the company would become well known in the regiment when Allan Morton McGavin joins in 1939. Lieutenan-Colonel McGavin, CD would rise to command the 43rd Heavy Anti-Aircraft Regiment, RCA and was later appointed Honorary Colonel 15th Field Regiment, RCA. |

Gunner Thomas Clare 27 Dec 1929
Thomas Clare, 64, resident of Nanaimo district for 17 years, died suddenly in his home, Yellow Point, Friday evening. He was well known in sport circles and at one time was manager of Nanaimo football team. He is survived by his widow and one daughter, Mrs. O.D. Roberts, Cedar district.
Rev. Mr. Spurling will officiate at the funeral Monday afternoon from Jenkins chapel, internment in Nanaimo cemetery.
Gunner Clare joined the 68th Overseas Depot Battery, Canadian Field Artillery on 22 Feb 1916 and served with the 2nd Heavy Battery, Canadian Garrison Artillery overseas.
