General Campaign Star – SOUTH-WEST ASIA (GCS-SWA)
This general service award has been created as a means to recognize - in a timelier manner - those who serve in operations in the presence of an armed enemy. Rather than creating a new honour for each new Canadian Forces operation as it arises, the General Campaign Star and General Service Medal - with their theatre or service specific ribbons - can be awarded in future to honour participation in any operation that meets the criteria. Most Proficient Detachment Commander of the Year
The BC Ex Artillery Sergeants Association provided this trophy for the Regiment to recognize their most proficient detachment commander. This trophy is awarded annually by the firing battery’s leadership to the detachment commander that displayed the greatest overall proficiency throughout the year. The winner for 2012 is Master Bombardier Y Bolgak. |

The Gunner Douglas Corsor Jr. Memorial Trophy
This trophy is presented to the Gunner that most exemplifies the best characteristics of being a Gunner. It was created by his close friends in the Regiment, Gunner Noel RR Dykes, Gunner Joseph C. Gauthier, Gunner R. Gerard, Gunner H. Harsch and Gunner V. Hughes after his untimely death in a vehicle accident in 1974. The award for 2012 is presented to Gunner James R. Morrison. |

Outgoing Regimental Sergeant Major, Chief Warrant Officer Kevin Walker CD handed over the RSM's cane to the incoming Regimental Sergeant Major, Chief Warrant Officer George Dempsey on 20 February 2013. The Reviewing Officer for the parade was the Honorary Colonel Grant Smith CD. See more...

Yakima Live Firing Exercise
The Regiment deployed to the Yakima Firing Centre in April accompanied by members of the police Military Liaison Unit which was conducting interagency training with police services from the US and Canada. Photos are from Sergeant Jason Hiscock, Calgary Police Service whose grandfather was coincidentally a member of the 31st Battery, 15th (Vancouver) Coast Regiment, during World War II.

A Gunner’s Ex
Exercise Gunner Defender 2013 was the artillery counterpart to the Western Defender exercises that took place in three separate locations across western Canada. From 24-29 August, gunners from 38 CBG, 39 CBG, and 41 CBG came together in CFB Shilo for the first time as gunners of the newly named 3rd Canadian Division. Upon arrival in Shilo, the gunners were split into two Batteries. See more...

Vancouver CP Tech Course a Success, Again
During July of this year, 15th Field Regiment ran a CP Tech Course for 15 young Gunners from Reserve units across Western Canada at their own Bessborough Armoury in Vancouver, British Columbia. It is with profound sadness that we announce the tragic passing of Peter. Survived by his beautiful children, Alyssa, 11, Sofia, 9, Aidan, 3; loving wife Estelle; brother Allan; sisters Wendy, Sylvia and extended family. Predeceased by parents Ernest and Ann Almerling. Bombardier Don Burkett
5 February 1955 – 1 June 2013 It is with great sadness we announce the sudden and unexpected passing of Dr. Don Burkett from heart failure on Saturday, June 1st, 2013. The family moved to Tsawwassen when Don was a young teenager. After graduating from DSS he attended Douglas College and UBC, eventually studying Chiropractic at CMCC in Toronto where he received Clinical Honours, graduating in May of 1982. Later that year he opened his practice and has served the community continuously in the same office ever since. . See more... |
Chief Warrant Officer Jim Hamilton CD
23 May 1923 – 9 December 2013 HAMILTON, Amos James (Jim) Dear and loving husband, father, papa, great grandpa, and friend passed away on December 9, 2013 at the age of 90. Jim served in the Canadian Air Force and also spent 34 years as a member of the 15th Field Artillery Regiment, spending 22 years with the band. He retired with a rank of Chief Warrant Officer.
