Obituaries
Gunner William Dent
William Dent, 52, of 3174 Peter street, died suddenly at his residence yesterday.
Mr. Dent was born in Paisley and came to Windsor 22 years ago from Palmerstown. He owned a barber shop in Sandwich. He served in the First Great War with the 64th Battery R.C.A. He was a member of Blair Lodge No. 66, A.F. and A.M., Palmerston. He was a member of the Windsor Barbers’ Association and of the Presbyterian Church.
He is survived by his widow, Hazel; one son, Dalton Leamington; and a brother, Harry Dent of Underwood, Ont.
The body is resting at the Anderson Funeral Home, 861 Ouellete avenue. It will be forwarded to the Hope and Cavill Funeral Home, Paisley, for funeral services on Saturday. Rev. W.E. Smythe will officiate. Burial will be in Lovat Cemetery, Paisley.
Gunner Dent served with 68th Battery, 16th Brigade, Canadian Field Artillery in North Russia.

Sergeant Alfred Stokes
Born Mission, BC 11 October 1911. Enlisted with the 15th (Vancouver) Coast Brigade, RCA, Canadian Active Service Force on 5 July 1940 and later transferred to the 16th Light Anti-Aircraft Battery, RCA CASF 4 Oct 1940. Participated in Operation Jubilee August 1942. Taken on strength Calgary Highlanders 1 March 1945. Deceased 10 March 1945 and buried at the Canadian Military Cemetery Bedburg, Germany, later reburied Groesbeek Canadian Military Cemetery, Nijmegen, Holland. |

Captain Allan Ronald Townsley
29 March 1945 Son of Lieutenant Colonel William Allen and Elizabeth Lilian Townsley, of Vancouver, British Columbia. Husband of Helen Ruth Townsley (nee Plomb), of South Kensington, London, England. Brother of David Strawson Townsley, Mary Ann Townsley and Philip McNair Townsley. Captain Townsley is commemorated on the North Vancouver Cenotaph, Victoria Park, North Vancouver, British Columbia. Captain Townsley enrolled with the 58th Battery, 15th Coast Brigade, RCA in 1938 and served overseas with the 3rd Anti-Tank Regiment, RCA. |
