Yakima 1979
One of our first ventures into the Yakima Training Centre ranges. The route down is always an adventure. Sergeant Joe Phelan's POL vehicle always comes in handy to ensure that we don't run out on the way. Here we have Bombardier Richard Fowler refueling with Captain 'Doc' Forbes supervising. We also have a bit of a group shot at the Rechalus Lake rest stop with the RSM Chief Warrant Officer Eric Tyldesley-Gore, Bombardier Richard Fowler and three other unknown members. See more...

Ft Lewis 1979
The date of these photographs is somewhat unclear. Please contact me if you have any additional information that can help. [email protected] We start off the selection with some Soviet/Warsaw Pact equipment in a Fort Lewis compound. I recall there was one exercise where we were 'attacked' by the Red Force. It would have helped if someone advised us that there was an OP Force and their mandate was to pick any unit in the training area to engage. Our first clue was when the occupants of the vehicle showed up and started firing AK47 blanks at us and tried to hijack one of our gun tractors. See more...

Officers' Mess
Subalterns Dinner
The date for this dinner is somewhat unclear. The attire is somewhat unorthodox and therefore the rank shown may be somewhat dubious. It does appear to be during the period when Lieutenant-Colonel Stuart McDonald was the Commanding Officer. Doc Forbes is at the table with John Jessop and Ian Newby. Certificates are being presented to John Jessop, Leo Kung, John Carter, John Hawthorne and Bob Mugford. Have you still got your certificate at home? Scan it and send me a copy! See more...

St Barbara's Dinner
The Officers' Mess is always the centre of decorum for the military at Black Tie events. Prior to dinner, speeches are given and gifts are presented. Invited guests, such as the Area Commander Brigadier General Hamm, are recognized and there is usually a sense of frivolity as shown by Major Barrie Hamilton. Lieutenant CI Young makes a presentation to our colleagues from south of the border and Lieutenant-Colonel Stuart McDonald provides a gift to Captain Red Harrison.
Recent trophies are highlighted and often served with the appropriate punch. The District Commander, Colonel William (Bill) Wickett samples the latest brew. See more...
