Most Proficient Detachment Commander of the Year
The BC Ex Artillery Sergeants Association provided this trophy for the Regiment to recognize their most proficient detachment commander for the year. This trophy is awarded annually by the firing battery’s leadership to the detachment commander that displayed the greatest overall proficiency throughout the year.This year’s winner was Master Bombardier Oliver J Young. |
The Gunner Douglas Corsor Jr. Memorial Trophy
This trophy is presented to the Gunner that most exemplifies the best characteristics of being a Gunner. It was created by his close friends in the Regiment, Gunner Noel RR Dykes, Gunner Joseph C. Gauthier, Gunner R. Gerard, Gunner H. Harsch and Gunner V. Hughes after his untimely death in a vehicle accident in 1974. It was refurbished by Captain N.R.R. Dykes, CD. This year’s award is presented to Gunner AWR Clark during the Soldiers’ Christmas Dinner. |

The yearly Turkey Shoot is a crowd pleaser. Master Bombardier Oulette and Major Kent Wickens provide coaching to those that are new to the sport and to those that require refreshers in basic rifle handling skills. Its all about the breathing! See more...

Abbotsford Fire and Rescue Funeral
Regimental Sergeant Major, Chief Warrant Officer Rob Wishnicki provided assistance to the Abbotsford Fire and Rescue on July 19, 2006 for the funeral of Captain Dean Larivee. There were over 500 fire service personnel in attendance at the funeral. For his service, the Abbotsford Fire and Rescue Department presented the RSM with a large Canadian flag which now hangs over the Bessborough Armoury parade square. See more...

The Band of the 15th Field Artillery Regiment, RCA performs in the 2006 Netherlands Military Tattoo in Rotterdam. The routine starts with a slow march, playing the Slaves Chorus from Nabucco by Verdi; followed by the quick march entitled "Canada on the March"; followed by the song "Proud Canadian Soldier", composed by Jay Willis and sung by Cary McCaffrey; and concluding with David Foster's "Winter Games" theme. The Brigadier DuMoulin Trophy
This trophy is awarded to the most efficient member of the Sergeants’ Mess as determined by the displayed rating system. It is awarded at the Warrant officers' and Sergeants’ Mess Annual Mess Dinner for their activities in the previous year. The winner for his service in 2005 is Master Warrant Officer Kevin E Walker. |
Obituaries
Captain Wiliiam Bruce Dirk Longon
William Bruce Dirk Passed away on September 2, 2006 in his residence in Saanich, B.C. He was born on December 18, 1924 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, son of the late William John Longon and Cleopatra Isabella nee Cowan. He served in the Second World War with the 43rd Medium Anti-Aircraft Regiment, RCA. He worked for the City of Vancouver for many years and upon retirement moved to Victoria where he was an active member with the Canadian Scottish Regiment and was also a member of the Union Club, Royal Canadian Legion Branch 142 and Masonic Lodge #91. Bruce will be remembered for his ever pleasant disposition and dry sense of humor and will be missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his cousins, Jeff Longon, Victoria, B.C.; Thomas (Carreen) and Jennifer Longon, Saint John, N.B.; Lily R. (Poppy) Chadsey, Quebec; an aunt, Helen (Longon) Harrington, Saint John, N.B.; and several cousins and godchildren residing in Canada, Australia, England and Scotland. Urn interment at "Gods Acre" Veterans' Cemetery, 1200 Colville Road, Victoria, on Wednesday, September 27, 2006 at 1:00 pm. Flowers gratefully declined. Donations in Bruce's memory may be made to one of the following: The Victoria Foundation, British Columbia's Children's Hospital Foundation or The University of British Columbia, Faculty of Commerce and Business Administration.
