Yakima Gun Exercise
Our cousins from 20th Independent Battery, RCA from Lethbridge, AB flew in via Air Command Hercules to find out how BC Gunners conduct training in the desert. They also brought along Master Warrant Officer Leon Jensen who currently resides in Edmonton, AB. The Regimental Quarter Master Sergeant Master Warrant Officer Bill Amos, Captain CI Young and Master Bombardier Reimer sort out equipment after the exercise. Before we head back to Vancouver, there's the traditional Regimental Smoker. The skills contest this year featured blind driving with the team offering direction and encouragement.  See More...
Fort Lewis 1982
As with many of our photos, the dates on these photos are somewhat unclear. They may be MILCON 82 or they may be a weekend exercise. The first photos are of Sergeant Noel Dykes' Detachment. Silhouetted as he brings his gun into action. He appears to be talking with Second Lieutenant Graeme Stewart in the next two photos and then rolling cam nets in the third one. The Battery conducts a "Battery Right" shoot. Unable to make out whose gun this may be. I see an "A" on the door, the tarps rolled back for aircraft sentry but the distance is too great.  See more...
MILCON 82
MILCON 82 took place in Ft Lewis in August. The Commanding Officer Lieutenant John MacGregor and the Army Commander Lieutenant-General Belzille get led onto the gun position where the Army Commander gets an opportunity to talk with Master Bombardier Colin Parkinson's detachment which includes Gunner Alain Archambault. Honourary Colonel Graham Blyth and Honorary Lieutenant-Colonel Jim Griffiths come down to watch the training. Taking them around for the tour was the Second in Command, Major Barrie Hamilton.

Firing the venerable 7.62mm FN C1A1. Warrant Officer Brian Hill discusses the days activities with the Commanding Officer Lieutenant-Colonel John MacGregor. Moving up to the 7.62mm FNC2 light Automatic Rifle with Lieutenant Glendell Watson and Sergeant Doug Johnston supervising. See more...

Visit of USS Peleliu - 7 December 1982
How many foreign navy ships visit the port of Vancouver in a year? Were we really this busy in 1982 returning salutes? Or, do I have the dates confused?

It's Dial-a-Sailor time in Vancouver
VANCOUVER, British Columbia -- Psst -- hey swabby -- want to have a good time? Try Vancouver, B.C. They have Dial-a-Sailor. About 3,000 Canadian and U.S. sailors back from long voyages and loaded with about $1 million in back pay were visiting the West Coast port city Wednesday.   See more...

Visit of Italian Navy D550 Ardito and F564 Lupo
It's a wet, rainy Vancouver, the pictures are rather blurry and there are no dates indicated. The ships can be identified through their hull numbers, Navy D550 Ardito and F564 Lupo and we know that it is autumn. The gun line officers wore forage caps while the Junior NCOs wore berets. Were you there? Can you confirm the date?  See more ...
