Recruiting
Recruiting has always been at the top of the Regiment's priorities. A Reserve unit has a high turnover that has often been blamed on poor resource allocation and dull training. Lieutenant Graeme W Stewart drew up an excellent recruiting poster in the mid 1980s . Graeme was a very talented cartoonist who passed away too soon. Regimental Museum is looking for other examples of his artwork. |

The Regiment deploys to Fort Lewis for Ex October Gunner, their Annual Operational Assessment - Ex Shellburst Valley. The Firing Battery can be seen lined up for the head count required as part of the assessment.

The Brigadier DuMoulin Trophy
This trophy is awarded to the most efficient member of the Sergeants’ Mess as determined by the displayed rating system. It is awarded at the Warrant Officers' and Sergeants’ Mess Annual Mess Dinner for their activities in the previous year. The winner for his service in 1984 is Master Warrant Officer Leon Jensen. |

Coronation Ball 1985
The task for organizing the Annual Coronation Ball for the Warrant Officers and Senior Non-Commissioned Officers of Vancouver Militia District is rotated between each of the units. This year’s event fell on the shoulders of 6 Field Engineer Squadron from North Vancouver. Organizing a Coronation Ball that requires participation from all the units of the District is often a recipe for disaster. The following year was to be our turn and the PMC of the Mess, Master Warrant Officer Leon Jensen, was burdened with the task. See more...

Major Norman George Beresford Burley
Passed away October 8, 1985, Norman George Beresford Burley, late of Sechelt, in his 83rd year. Survived by his loving wife, Maggie; 2 daughters, Beverly Fraser, of Victoria, and Patricia Phillips, of Vancouver; 12 grand-children; 5 great grand-children; and 1 sister, Helen Grimmett, of West Vancouver. Service was held Thursday, October 10 in the Chapel of Devlin Funeral Home, Gibsons. Rev. John Paetkau officiated. Cremation followed. Remembrance donations to a charity of choice appreciated. Major Burley was a Lieeutenant with the 5th Medium Battery, 15th Brigade, Canadian Field Artillery from 1925 to 1926. |
