After more than 42 years of service to his country and the Canadian Armed Forces, Captain Benson Lum retired on 28 January 2020.
Captain Lum enrolled in the Canadian Armed Forces on 22 February 1977 with the Seaforth Highlanders of Canada. Over the course of his career, he served with The Seaforth Highlanders of Canada (1977-1986), The British Columbia Regiment (1986-1987), 15th Field Artillery Regiment (1988-2001), 744 Communications Regiment (2001-2007), and 39 Canadian Brigade Group Headquarters (2007-2020). He also had a two year assignment as Regimental Sergeant Major of 39 Service Battalion before receiving his commission in April 2013 to the rank of Captain.
