Chief Warrant Officer Rob Wishnicki was appointed 39 Brigade Sergeant Major in 2010. As part of the Command Team, the Brigade Sergeant Major is the senior non-commissioned officer in 39 Canadian Brigade Group who advises the Brigade Commander on all issues related to the enlisted ranks. Commanders employ their sergeants major throughout an area of operations to extend command influence, assess morale of the force, and assist during critical events.
During his tenure he will accompany the Commander on tours throughout the brigade area and beyond.

The ship was formerly known as the Chervona Ukraina and was the third ship of the Slava-class of guided missile cruisers built for the Soviet Navy now serving the Russian Navy.
