Yorke Dock
The main feature of the Yorke Island Fort was the dock on the southern (predominantly leeward) side of the island. It was from here that men, construction materials, ammunition and other supplies could be transferred from boats onto shore, and then distributed to various parts of the island by truck and tractor. The dock was constructed in 1938. It is unknown when it was removed but it appears that the pilings were cut off close to ground level and floated away to some other unknown location.
