Fort Lewis 1970?
The difficulties of determining the correct date for many of the photographs that we own is illustrated in the following series of photos. We know that the photos feature our regimental band. We know that they were not qualified on the US Army M102 howitzer although they are shown manning the weapon as part of the ceremony. The M 102 was introduced into service from 1966 until 1970 and remained in service until the M119 began arriving in 1989. That doesn’t really narrow our search. The photos do feature Jimmy Hamilton as the Drum Major although his rank cannot be seen. Captain Richard Van Slyke believes the date is somewhere between 1970 and 1972, so I’ll just leave it here in 1970 until I receive confirmation! Email me at [email protected] if you know the answer to the following questions:
Are all the photos from the same event?
What year did the event take place?
What was the specific event?
Who is the artillery director of music/bandmaster featured marching on with the band?
Who is the gentleman with the sword taking the salute? What unit is he with?
What is the name of the US Army Band?
What’s the name of the Canadian Scottish Regiment mascot? It's either Wallace II or Wallace III. Thanks Keith!
