Exercise Gunner Barrage, Fort Lewis, WA 6-9 Oct 1989
The Battery rolls into a suitable non-tactical hide for a post exercise pre-road maintenance and Battery Smoker. The Sig NCO, Bombardier Robert DePieri is busy sorting out the communications gear as the Troop Sergeant Major Sergeant Paul Roberts takes a few moments to chat with the Battery Captain, Captain Leon Jensen? (Damn bush caps, moustache and 80's style glasses!)
Meanwhile, the battery relaxes for a couple of well earned beers. From left to right; the Regimental Sergeant Major, Master Warrant Officer David Levien, Lieutenant Kent Wickens (looking away), Captain Leon Jensen? (Damn bush cap and glasses again!), Captain Alfred Woo, Sergeant John McClelland, Sergeant Paul Roberts, Captain Ron Mathews and Sergeant ? (it's that damn bush cap, moustache and 80's style glasses, again!) This could be the back of Sergeant Mike Imada's head sitting with Bombardier Robert DePieri.
Captain Hugh Downing who is in conversation with the Commanding Officer Lieutenant-Colonel John Carter. In the background is Captain Doug Winters talking with Captain Bill Macmillan and Captain Al Woo. The Regimental Sergeant Major, Master Warrant Officer David Levien and Corporal Robert Sutherland. A trio of conspirators? Bombardier Ric Bowe, Corporal Robert Sutherland and Sergeant Brian Arberry.
Master Bombardier Drew Bartlett and Bombardier Ken Chiu appear to be returning from the blue rockets. Gunner Richard Govier and Bombardier Randy Phillips enjoying their fine field cuisine.
Gunner Waldman catches the camera while the camera catches the Regimental Sergeant Major Master Warrant Officer David Levien in a contemplative pose.
Sergeant Donato Calogero captured in the glare of the camera during the 'Ammo Box Toss.'

Well, I'm not too sure who came up with this idea! I would like to hear from you if you were the bright idea fairy on this one! Let's see who can toss a weighted ammo box the longest distance. First up is Bombardier Rob Wishnicki with Sergeants Paul Roberts and Jennifer Jackson observing his style. Not too sure who the second tosser is as his arm obscures his face.
The Battery Commander, Major John Brownlee-Baker steps up and displays some of the style he picked up in his days as a Non-Commissioned Officer. I do believe it was the longest toss of the day. Of course we had to go into a pairs competition and the BC teamed up with Gunner Maurice King.
This toss certainly received marks for style. Unfortunately, the scoresheets were lost sometime later that evening so there is no historical record of winners and posers.
Sergeant John McClelland teams up with Bombardier DePieri to challenge the BC's team throw. I'm not sure what the exact results were however, they certainly seem excited by how far they threw. Did they win?
I believe that this was a new camera that Sergeant Amnon Lichtmann just received. Quite appropriate that he would try for the artistic shot on Sergeant Mike Imada's gun with the sun setting behind.

The year may be incorrect BUT there's Master Warrant Officer Dave Levien chatting with Sergeant John McClelland while in the background there's a group with Mike Imada, Kent Wickens, Ernie Bodrogi from the Westies and the Battery Commander Major John Brownlee-Baker.
In these two shots we have Brad Shorey, Benson Lum, Jim Jacobson, Keith Laing, Bombardier Rick Bowes, Corporal Rob Sutherland and Scott Waldman.
Gunner Jon Denney, Rob Wishnicki, Mike Imada followed by the second photo with Bombardier Darren Kostinuk, Bombardier Ken Chiu, Sergeant John McClelland, Sergeant Donato Calogero and Dawne Larsen.
After lunch we have the attack on Regensburg where the enemy has cleverly hidden themselves. Sergeant John McClelland takes to the roof before taking shelter behind a knoll with Sergeant Amnon Lichtmann, Brad Shorey and Robert DePieri.
