New Year's Day Levée - 2021
The first recorded levée in Canada was held on January 1, 1646, in the Chateau St. Louis by Charles Huault de Montmagny, Governor of New France from 1636 to 1648. Since that time it has become a tradition in many military establishments.
The 15th Field Artillery Regiment tradition was to meet in the Officers' Mess and the Warrant Officers and Sergeants Mess at 1000 hrs and then the messes would alternate as to which mess would host the other at 1100 hrs. I believe it's the Officers turn to host the Senior NCOs in 2021!
Due to COVID, we are hosting a virtual event. Make yourself some moose milk and log into our virtual Mess anytime between 1000 hrs and 1300 hrs. We'll set up 5 different rooms so you'll have an opportunity to wander from one to another and refresh old acquittances! I'm hoping other Messes / organizations will join in and host their own New Year's Day Levée so we can go visiting like we have in the past.
Have you got a levée planned at your location? Send me an email at [email protected] and I'll add you to the list!
