On October 11, 1959, in his 67th year of 86 Garden City Road, Richmond. Survived by his wife, Ivy; 3 sons, Fred, Mission City; Robert, Vananda, B.C.; Edward, City; 2 brothers, Dr. Fred Boyle, San Francisco; Harry Boyle, Penticton; 6 grandchildren. Funeral service Thursday, October 15, 1:30 p.m. at Shaughnessy United Church. Rev. T.M. Badger officiating. Cremation
Captain Boyle was a member of the 62nd Battery, 15th Brigade, Canadian Field Artillery during World War I.

Bombardier James Mathieson Dowie
James M. Dowie, 62, of 4623 No. Gove St., died yesterday while at work at Cascade Linen Supply. Born in Glasgow, Scotland, he had lived here 32 years.
He was first associated with the Home Service Laundry and spent his last seven years with Cascade Linen Supply.
Mr Dowie served with the Canadian Army during World War I and was a member of the Canadian Legion. He was vice president of the Tacoma Lions Club, past monarch of Tacobat Grotto, past member of the Tacoma Boys Club board, a member of the Afifi Shrine, the Tacoma Elks Club, the Tacoma Executives Club and the Constellation Lodge F&AM of Seattle. He had been active in drives for funds for Mary Bridge Clinic.
Surviving are his wife, Katherine, and a brother, W.P. Dowie of Tacoma.

Bombardier Dowie enrolled 68th Overseas Depot Field Battery as a Gunner 21 Feb 1916; proceeded to France with the 3rd Canadian Division Ammunition Column and served in North Russia with the 16th Brigade, Canadian Field Artillery in 1918/1919.

GANGES – Funeral services were held at the United Church here this afternoon for Arthur William Drake, 70, resident of Salt Spring Island since 1912, who died Thursday in Victoria. Born at Cornwall, P.E.I., he had worked at several B.C. creameries before coming here to manage the Salt Spring Island Creamery. He went overseas in 1916, serving in France, Belgium and Germany with the 51st Bty., Canadian Field Artillery. In 1919 he returned to his former post, and a short time later married Lydia Mouat, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T.W. Mouat.
TRUSTEE - He was a school trustee for many years, and resident here until 1956, when he moved to Victoria.
Surviving are three sons, James Colvin, Victoria, with whom he lived; Malcolm Louis, Vancouver; Arthur Vernon, Windsor, Ont., and 10 grandchildren. His wife died in 1931, and a fourth son, William Bruce, was shot down in his aircraft over the North Sea in the Second World War.
Bombardier Drake enlisted 13 April 1916, and went to England, with the 62nd Battery, 15th Brigade, Canadian Field Artillery.

Funeral services were held this afternoon at 3:00 p.m. for George Martin Haddock who passed away Saturday in the Royal Columbian hospital. He lived at 35 Alexander Street and services were held from Henderson’s Funeral chapel. Burial followed in the Anglican cemetery. Rev. J.W. officiating.
Mr. Haddock was born in Belfast, Ireland in 1887 and had lived here for 48 years. He was a former B.C. Electric tower switch man.
Among his survivors are one son, George Victor; four brothers, William Haddock, South Burnaby; John Ireland; Tommy, Vancouver; Robert, California; two sisters Misses Maggie and May Haddock in Ireland and two grandchildren
Pallbearers were Roy Scott, Sam Pollock, Bud Morris, Tom Haddock and Harry McDonald.
Bombardier Haddock enlisted with the Vancouver Volunteer Reserve, Boorman's Battery on 6 October 1915. He served in France and Belgium with 3rd Canadian Division Ammunition Column, 9th Brigade, CFA and the 32nd Battery, 8th Brigade, CFA.

Hearn, England. The deceased served with the R.A.F., W.W.1. and was a Sgt. With the Royal Canadian Artillery W.W.2 and since the war has been active with the 15th Field Regiment Reserve. Funeral service Saturday at 2 o’clock in Simmons and McBride Funeral Chapel, Broadway at Maple St., Rev. Major George Turpin, D.D., officiating. Cremation, Garden Chapel, Ocean View.
