Point Grey Fort - Artillery Heritage Project
The Point Grey Fort project was initiated in order to preserve the history of Vancouver's defences during the Second World War and remember those that had served the Regiment during those years. The attached letter was distributed to all Gunners in order to raise the necessary funds.
Members that had served during that period were encourage to record their memories so that we can ensure that their stories are not forgotten.
Lieutenant-Colonel Douglas P Gayton was posted to the Point Grey fort in 1939 and was kind enough to bring to light some of the shenanigans that took place and provided the following photographs of the fort's present condition.

The following photos came from the Honorary Lieutenant Colonel Vic Stevenson collection. They include discussions with Fort Rodd Hill Parks Canada employees and the work crews clearing away the brush around #1 Gun emplacement. Additional pictures show the installation of the safety handrail and the condition of the searchlight towers on the beach. Fantastic work by the volunteers!
Another set of photos from the 15th Field Artillery Regiment Museum & Archives. Amazing work bringing the #1 gun emplacement back into view.
