Regular Force Artillery
15 Jul 1965 4th Regiment Royal Canadian Horse Artillery, stationed in Petawawa, ON converts to a Light Artillery Regiment establishment in order to fulfill its support role to the Special Service Force (SSF) and its role within the Ace Mobile Force (Land) - AMF(L). The regiment will now consist of a Regimental Headquarters, an attached Signals Troop, a Garrison Troop and three mortar batteries.
2 Oct 1965 - W Battery, 4th Regiment Royal Canadian Horse Artillery deploys to Cyprus in an infantry role attached to 2nd Battalion Canadian Guards.
1965 - AN/USD-501, CL 89 Canadair designed and built surveillance drone undergoes tests at Yuma, AZ.
1965 - 2nd Regiment Royal Canadian Horse Artillery, in Germany, is outfitted with the new M-113 Armoured Personnel Carrier.
27 May 1965 - U Battery, 1st Royal Canadian Horse Artillery in Gagetown NB is disbanded. The new Close Support Regiment RCA does not include a locating battery as this task is now carried out at the Divisional Artillery level.
23 Apr 1965 - Minister of National Defence authorizes formation of 1st Locating Battery RCA. The Battery will consist of a Battery Headquarters, Survey Troop, Sound Ranging Troop, Radar Troop, Meteorological Troop and two Drone Troops.
