Yakima Gun Exercise
Our cousins from 20th Independent Battery, RCA from Lethbridge, AB flew in via Air Command Hercules to find out how BC Gunners conduct training in the desert. They also brought along Master Warrant Officer Leon Jensen who currently resides in Edmonton, AB. The Regimental Quarter Master Sergeant Master Warrant Officer Bill Amos, Captain CI Young and Master Bombardier Reimer sort out equipment after the exercise. Before we head back to Vancouver, there's the traditional Regimental Smoker. The skills contest this year featured blind driving with the team offering direction and encouragement. It's a pretty high priced team with Master Warrant Officer Ron Paterson, 2, Master Warrant Officer Mark Jackson, Master Warrant Officer Bill Amos, Corporal Laura Ritchie and Corporal May offering guidance Corporal Jennifer Ritchie. Meanwhile the tug of war teams are battling in the war of the western provinces with plenty of encouragement from the crowd. Captain CI Young, 2,3, Noel Dykes, 5, Bombardier Eric Halstead, Gunner Kent Wickens, 8,9, Clifton John. Of course there's always time to chill out with a beer in the sun afterwards. Jim Jacobson, 2, 3, Gunner Jonathan Gregory, 5,6. Not sure what the charge was, but the sentence seems somewhat severe. Captain Frank Forbes adjusting the nooses around Warrant Officer Brian Hill with Second Lieutenant Glen Watson and Captain Ian Newby assisting.
