Boats Gallery #2
Boat Gallery #2 is a collection of photographs portraying the different boats that serviced Yorke Island. They might be carrying the troops rotating on or off the island, part of the Fisherman's Reserve, part of the Royal Canadian Navy or one of the Examination Vessels.

She was a Fundy-class minesweeper used as a local patrol craft out of Esquimalt, BC before transferring to Halifax, NS in 1940 where she performed general minesweeping duties. 986.324.10 TSS Cardena was built in 1923 by Napier & Miller, Glasgow for the Union SS Company she was a 1,559 gross ton coastal passenger ship, length 226.8ft x beam 37.1ft, twin screw, speed 11 knots. In 1960 she was sold to Sannie Transportation Co, Vancouver and in 1961 was dismantled by Capitol Iron & Metals Co at Victoria. 986.379.01 General Schmidlin was owned by J.E. Kinney Ltd in Yarmouth NS in 1941, She was acquired by the Royal Canadian Army Service Corps and used from 1943-1945 re-supplying army bases. Boats Gallery #3
It appears that Yorke Island had some small boats available for use by the Gunners themselves. Not being a nautical person myself, I'm at a bit of a loss to describe many of them. Your assistance would be greatly appreciated.
