Yorke Island Public Outreach
BC Parks organized a very succesful Yorke Island public outreach event at Sayward, BC from 1-2 February 2019. The event included partcipation from the Colonel Commandant of The Royal Regiment of Canadian Artillery, Brigadier-General James Selbie, the President of the Vancouver Artillery Association, Leon Jensen, and a large contingent of the 85 VICS. The Colonel Commandant recognized the efforts of Ross Keller, Hayley Datoo and Jim Spowart with the presentation of a Colonel Commandant's coin to each.
The Outreach program included a visit to Yorke Island with another great performance by Ross Keller who provided a running commentary on the history of the island, the peculiarities of its flora and fauna as well as anecdotes from the adventures of the 85 VICS over the years.
That evening, presentations were provided by BC Parks, BC Heritage, HeritageWorks and Denise Cook Designs .
