I just came across an interesting book titled "Handbook of Artillery
Including Mobile, Anti-Aircraft and Trench Materiel". USA War Office 1920. It features information on all the artillery pieces in the US Army at that time, complete with photos and schematics. The photos below are just a couple of the interesting ones I found. Replica Royal Artillery Stable Belts

Fort Lewis Exercise. Check out the photos in the 1998 Yearbook and let me know if you can ID someone!
When you bring a photographer along on a tour you end up with a lot of photographs! Fortunately, the website does not have any limit on the amount of information that we can place on it. I'll leave the editing of the photographs to another time. Who knows, there might be that perfect photo of the ulimate baseball swing! Here's the band in 1991 having a baseball game at their picnic. I'm not sure if this was before the volleyball, after the volleyball or even on the same day as the volleball game.
I'm still scanning photographs from the 1991 Band Tour! The latest uploads were another 75 photographs from their Disneyland performance. Enjoy! Send me some names!
The Museum has a copy of a 1933 program listing Henry Slatter MSM as the conductor for the Band of the 15th Field Brigade, Canadian Artillery and I have found a photo of Bandmaster Slatter of the 72nd regiment of the Seaforth Highlanders, standing on steps of the Vancouver Courthouse (now the Vancouver Art Gallery), approx 1913. Slatter was the first Seaforth Highlanders of Canada bandmaster. Is this the same person?
The Richmond Olympic Oval opening listed the following, "Vancouver’s artillery band was formally established in 1933 when the Band of 15th Field Brigade, Canadian Artillery was formed under the direction of Capt Henry Slatter M.S.M." Does anyone have additional information that could link the two? A photo of Henry Slatter in an Artillery uniform? |
