18 Pounder Delivery Update - ETA Noon Thursday, 28 June 2018!
Recent discussions have led to a connection between a School of Camouflage at UBC and 15th (Vancouver) Coast Regiment RCA. The camouflage has long since disappeared from the Point Grey Battery and the Stanley Park Battery has been totally dismantled. However, there are traces still visible on Yorke Island. It appears that the school was responsible for some of that war time work. Nick Orchard's father, Robert, was one of the artists involved in that work and was captured in wartime sketches by Jack Shadbolt, a Canadian war artist, in 1943.
A big shout out to the soldiers from 3 CDSB Edmonton Garrison Wainwright Technical Services Branch Maintenance Company (the maintainers from Garrison Wainwright) who helped with the loading of the 18 Pounder today! Thanks guys!
The 18-pounder QF Mk. II Field Gun is scheduled to be picked up at noon today in Wainwright, Alberta. ETA at Bessborough Wednesday around lunch. Further details to follow as they come available. Check out the new photos added here.
Mess Meeting 13 October 1973
The minutes provide an interesting glimpse into Armoury history. Did you know that Mr Jones of Jones Tent and Awning across the street from Bessborough Armoury, received a complimentary associate membership in the Officers' Mess in return for allowing members to park in his parking lot? |
