Warrant Officer (ret) Al Yelland has gone through some of his records and some insight into his time with 15th Field Artillery Regiment, RCA from his enrolment in January 1962 until his transfer to the supp list in 1976. This includes his regimental wedding in 1966 and a great photo of the Regiment in 1969. Can you fill in some of the blank names? Looking forward to getting more information from Al in the future. Your promotion dates?  1971 - Oktoberfest '71 program and photos 2014 - Photos from WOs' and Sgts' Mess Dinner 2015 - Honorary Colonel Ronald James Webster CD obituary The Rogue's Gallery of RSMs was missing 2 photos, that of WO1 Sverre Sorenson (1924) and that of Acting WO1 Douglas D Collins (1 Jan 1953). We have now found a photo of Sverre Sorenson and some history from his time with the New Zealand Mounted Rifles and with the 4th Division Ammunition Column. There may be more information in the war diaries at http://www.canadiangreatwarproject.com/warDiaryLac/wdLacP24.asp. Any volunteers to take a read a let me know if you find any more information?  As for Acting WO1 Douglas D Collins (1 Jan 1953). Possibly a Seaforth Highlander of Canada during the Second World War, I do have a military honours and citation card for an Acting WO1 RSM C Pro C K-490947 Douglas Dundas Collins who received his CD on 6 Nov 1950. Could this be our missing RSM?

Former Honorary Colonel Ron Webster passed away yesterday in the Residential Care section of Lions Gate Hospital. Honorary Colonel 1991 – 1995 Honorary Lieutenant-Colonel 1988-1991 No details on a service yet, but it may possibly be held on Friday, Jan 8th. Details and obituary to follow when available. |
