HLCol Don Foster was recently featured in a 39CBG Facebook post. Check out the story in the 2023 Yearbook here.
Have you signed up for your RCA Association Card? Seventeen serving members and 3 retired members signed up last week and should be receiving theirs shortly. If you're a currently serving member or a member of the Vancouver Artillery Association, simply find a deceased Gunner from the 15 RCA file below, check that it hasn't already been claimed from the assigned list and send the name to [email protected]
Honorary Colonel Al DeGenova and Honorary Lieutenant Don Foster met with the other Honoraries from 39 Canadian Brigade Group.
Lieutenant-Colonel Charles Douglas Crowe, MC, ED has been added to our nominal roll as he was a member of 31st Battery, 9th Brigade, Canadian Field Artillery, CEF when he was awarded a bar to his Military Cross. The citation for the bar has yet to be discovered while the citation for the Military Cross reads: For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. He rushed forward and dragged away a wounded man who was lying beside some ammunition that was on fire and exploding. Recently came across a set of Citation Cards for the Legion of Merit awarded to Major Richard Diespecker of the 15th (Vancouver) Coast Regiment, RCA. He seems to have been posted to rather nice spot during the war. Major Diespecker is also remembered for his "Prayer for Victory" which was published in 1942.
