Another week in the First World War life of Gunner Helmcken. This week's rotation has him working with the ammunition resupply. Check out the diary here.
In late February soldiers from 15th Field Artillery Regiment participated in Exercise ARCTIC EAGLE-PATRIOT 22 in Anchorage Alaska. They took part in Light Urban Search and Rescue and CBRN response drills. Some soldiers were also trialing a new Chemical Protective Uniform and new C5 gas mask. Check out the other photos here.
I Thought I would only focus on artillery related items, but this great YouTube video from Wendover Productions gives a great look into the build up of the Russian forces and some of the logistical difficutlies that they have encountered. Well worth the 20 minutes.
The Failed Logistics of Russia's Invasion of Ukraine. ![]() Congratulations to Honorary Lieutenant Colonel Don Foster on his award of the Minister of Veterans Affairs Commendation. The full details can be found on our 2022 yearbook page here. We just trialled the border process required to return from the USA. We chose the Aldergrove crossing as it is the closest to our home. The system requires some pre-planning (a Covid test that is only good for 2 days and an online ArriveCAN system to fill out before returning). Overall not too onerous. The tests did cost $60.00 per person and you get your results in 30 minutes. The border wait was non-existent (We were the only vehicle there as we drove up)
On our way back we stopped at the Coast Artillery Museum in Fort Worden. Definitely a spot to put on a future itinerary! Maybe we could offer volunteer time for accommodation? Posted some videos on our Facebook page. Will only focus on the artillery aspect. There will be no authentication possible as to the truthfulness of the original videos....
