Thanks to some great memory work by Lieutenant (Ret'd) Leslie Strike, we've managed to come up with another 5 names for the 1954 Officers' Group Photo. Can anyone recognize the last nine? Jackson, Lt Col Kenneth Beckett, Maj Francis Cassillis (Bud) Garrett, Maj Mel Oughton, Major Robert Keen, 20 After more than 42 years of service to the Army and many of the regiments in 39 Canadian Brigade Group, Captain Benson Lum retired on 28 January 2020.
Benson enrolled in the Seaforth Highlanders of Canada on 22 February 1977 as an infantryman. After reclassifying to logistics, he went on the serve with The British Columbia Regiment, 15th Field Artillery Regiment , 744 Communications Regiment , 39 Service Battalion and 39 Canadian Brigade Group Headquarters. Fifteen BC soldiers included Warrant Officer Class I from the 43rd Heavy Anti-Aircraft Regiment RCA and Bombardier Ray Ormandy from the 15th Field Regiment RCA. Did you get an opportunity to tour the Regimental Museum during our Birthday celebrations last week? Brenden Gansner from the 85 VICS took advantage of the opportunity and provided some photos of the visit. If you missed your opportunity, the museum is open every Wednesday morning from 1000 hrs until 1200. There's a great lunch in the Officers' Mess afterwards. Drop on by and say hi!
