Ramsden Brothers
The Ramsden brothers, Battery Sergeant Major Philip Ramsden, Sergeant Eric Ramsden and Gunner Donald Ramsden are featured for their award of the Canadian Efficiency Medal. The news keeps on coming regarding COVID-19. The latest measures have forced the cancellation of our weekly Wednesday lunches in the Officers' Mess. In order to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and still maintain contact with each other, I have initiated the start of a weekly video conference scheduled for 1200 to 1300 hours on Wednesday. There's three ways to you can join us:
Using a laptop - simply go to https://zoom.us/j/344575462 Using a smartphone - either the website https://zoom.us/j/344575462 or call +1 778 907 2071 Regular land line phone - dial +1 778 907 2071 Grab a beer, a plate of lunch or a glass of wine and we can continue our usual mess conversations. We have room for 100! Apparently I have the capacity to set up different rooms for different conversations! See you on Wednesday! Future Commanding Officer
Lieutenant-Colonel Horace Peck, future Commanding Officer 102nd Coast Regiment RCA and his wife are featured in the Province as they depart for England and France.

75th Anniversary of the Liberation of the Netherlands
The Honorary Lieutenant-Colonel, Don Foster, the Vancouver Artillery Association and the Regimental Museum supported the launch of the poster for the 75th Anniversary of the Liberation of the Netherlands, Victory in Europe (V-E) Day. See more... Your Association President has been in Ottawa attending the Canadian Defence Association Conference on Defence and Security as one of The Royal Canadian Artillery Association representatives. Great presentations on where the Canadian Armed Forces may be going in the future and some awesome networking opportunities. The CDAI also used the event for their Captain Nichola Goddard Award which was created to recognize and honour a young Canadian innovator and trailblazer who has made a significant contribution to Canadian security and defence. Captain Goddard's sister made an excellent tribute to her sister that I found very emotional. It's very impressive to see the contribution that Captain Goddard continues to make for a better world.
We also popped into the Army Officers' Mess for lunch and to check out the renovations that were done in the OP de Hart. While there, we ran into the Army Ball committee. If you're planning to be in Ottawa in April 2021 you might want to book a seat at the dinner which should have a large artillery presence in light of the A and B Battery commemoration plans. |
