Your Association President has been in Ottawa attending the Canadian Defence Association Conference on Defence and Security as one of The Royal Canadian Artillery Association representatives. Great presentations on where the Canadian Armed Forces may be going in the future and some awesome networking opportunities. The CDAI also used the event for their Captain Nichola Goddard Award which was created to recognize and honour a young Canadian innovator and trailblazer who has made a significant contribution to Canadian security and defence. Captain Goddard's sister made an excellent tribute to her sister that I found very emotional. It's very impressive to see the contribution that Captain Goddard continues to make for a better world.
We also popped into the Army Officers' Mess for lunch and to check out the renovations that were done in the OP de Hart. While there, we ran into the Army Ball committee. If you're planning to be in Ottawa in April 2021 you might want to book a seat at the dinner which should have a large artillery presence in light of the A and B Battery commemoration plans. |
