The regimental fabric is quite amazing once you start researching the names of the soldiers that have served over the years. There have been quite a few family members that have been in the unit at the same time. One of these sets is the Caley brothers and I’ve just finished updating their nominal roll entry. It appears that Louis was the first to join on 31 March 1954. He had previously served with the 65th Light Anti-Aircraft Regiment and was only 2 years from receiving his Canadian Forces Decoration. He must have spoke highly of the unit as it seems that Caley and Daryy were both taken on strength the following month on 22 Apr 1954. We have records that show Daryl and Louis were both musicians but there is no record of Raymond’s musical talent. Sadly, Raymond passed away on 26 June 1997 and Daryl just passed away this year on 24 March 2021. Raymond’s current whereabouts is still to be uncovered. We also do not have any photos of any of the brothers in uniform. They may well be in the group photos from 1956 as none of them are identified. Have we recorded all your regimental history? Have we received your copies of your regimental photos? Check out the nominal roll and drop me a line with any additional information that should be included. |
