Here's the plan for this year's Remembrance Day Ceremony in Vancouver. 1100 Hrs - The Regiment will be firing a 21 Gun Salute from HMCS Discovery. Only serving members will be allowed on the island but you may be able to watch from Hallelujah Point or from the Sea Wall by the Harbour Air Seaplane Station. Please be safe. Wear a mask. Maintain a safe distance. Mess attendance afterwards is limited to serving members only. 1100 Hrs - There will be a small guard formed up at the Cenotaph with no space allocated for onlookers. The ceremony is intended to be broadcast for home viewing. Your president, Leon and Captain Rob Wishnicki will be layng a wreath on behalf of the Canadian Army Veterans. After the ceremony at the Cenotaph, I plan to go for lunch at Moose's Down Under Bar and Grill, 830 W Pender Street. Let me know if you want to join us! (Or if you have a better suggestion for lunch!) If anyone is staying out in the Valley, I might suggest an 11:00 service at the Afghanistan Memorial at the Derek Doubleday Arbouretum. There may also be an event happening there and at 1500 hrs. It also appears that there are plans in the works for a gathering at the Aldergrove Legion. Remember - Stay safe. Wear a mask. Maintain a safe distance. |
