![]() Obituary - Bombardier Clayton Foster Elderkin Bombardier Elderkin enrolled with the 68th Overseas Depot Field Battery, Canadian Field Artillery as a Gunner on 22 Feb 1916. He proceeded to France with the 1st Canadian Division Ammunition Column and later transferred to the 9th Brigade, Canadian Field Artillery. After the war, he attended McGill for his Bachelor of Commerce and became a civil servant. From 1945 until 1967 he was the Inspector-General of Banks, Associate Deputy Minister of Finance. He was also involved in the community as a Governor of Carleton University, President of Quebec Institute of Chartered Accountants and of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants, President of Ontario Division of Red Cross, President of Ottawa Branch of Red Cross and a member of various Masonic Orders.
