The editorial committee has requested us to send them 20 photos form 1960 to the present. Rather than searching through our files for the best 20 photos, maybe we should step back and ask ourselves what were the 20 (or ten?) most newsworthy occasions that have taken place since 1960 and then start looking for the best photo(s) that identifies with each of those periods. Something different than units in the rest of Canada.
I would suggest something along the lines of: 1. The salute for the Britannia; 2. The salute for a visiting warship; 3. Canada Day salute in Stanley Park; 4. An exercise in Ft Lewis; 5. An exercise in Yakima; 6. The Freedom of the City parade; 7. Our Op tasked days; 8. Our FAT and Limber at Smokey Smith funeral; 9. Our salute for Clinton and the Russian President on the same day; 10. The best Regimental Band photo that we can find; 11. Our 10/90 days 12. The Regimental Oktoberfest (Biggest party in the Armoury!) 13. Abbotsford Air Show 14. Support to GATES 15. The Regimental band firing American 105s in Ft Lewis 16. ? 17. ? 18. ? 19. ? 20.? Please take a look at what I already have placed on line at this page: http://www.vancouvergunners.ca/the-gunners-of-canada-vol-iii.html Comments, additional photos would be appreciated. |
