Prince Rupert Barrett Battery
This coastal gun emplacement has recently been in the news regarding some planned future infrastructure works that might damage the existing fortifications. It would be a shame for the region to lose an historic heritage site without examining the potential revenue generating options if the site was properly set up. Our Museum & Archives have some photos of the fort being established in the 1940s. Check them out here. Local Training
More photos from Edward (Ted) Edmonds appear to show training in the local area. No dates are specified but it appears to be prior to Ted being commissioned. I've placed them in 1928 until such time as additional information is found. Added some additional slides to the 1972 recruiting presentation. Check them out here.
Remembrance Day
With one Battery tasked to fire the salute, the remainder of the Regiment marches in the parade at Victory Square. Familiar faces in the ranks: Gunners Leo Kung, Leon Jensen, Craig Stewart, Bill Barlow, Greg James; Bombardiers Dave Strebe, Keith Laing, Mike Meehan; Second Lieutenant Art Gee, Lieutenants Bob Mugford, Gary Woloski, Martin Casey; Captains Stuart McDonald, Steve Burridge; Majors Bill Wickett, Vic Stevenson, Ian Whitelaw and Lieutenant-Colonel Barrie Clemons. Check out the other photo in the 1971 Yearbook. Dry Deployments
Not much information on the following series of photos. We know that it's 1956 due to the licence plate in one photo and we've grouped all the photos together as there are common faces throughput. Do you recognize anyone? Any idea where No 1 Fire Rally Point might be located? Check out the other pictures here. More photos have been uploaded from the Summer Training Camp at Wainwright. 25 Pounders, Air OP and a group shot of the officers. Can you identify them all? Check out the rest of the photos in the 1956 Yearbook.
Drill Team Competition - May 1958
It's unclear whether the photographs are from the 15th Field Regiment or the 43rd Medium Anti-Aircraft Regiment. The format appears to be a 12 man section under command of a Sergeant with a Warrant Officer Class II and a Captain in an authoritarian position above them. The Warrant Officer Class I is keeping track of their performance on his clipboard. I wonder who won? Check out the 1958 Yearbook and see if you can add to the story. That's it! The 1950s are all lined up in the new format. Check them out. Let me know if you find any broken links, lost photographs or other incorrect information.
Several new photographs have been added to the Officers' Mess Special Guest Night in 1982. Check out the photos here.
Change of Command
New photos were added from the Change of Command parade in 1969. Check out the photos here. |
