There was a large intake of 3rd Searchlight Battery personnel and Lions’ Gate Riding and Polo Club were thanked for their donations. First there was an electric light generator oil leakage and then a complete electrical breakdown. There were issues with the Chevrolet truck, clicking gears on the 4.7" guns and all the Ross rifles Mark IIIs were replaced with Mark IIs which were not satisfactory. Check out the complete diaries here. ![]() The war diary for June 1941 has now been uploaded. Major Piercy is the OC and is attempting to establish a better source of water at Hardwicke Island. A bring to round was fired on the USS Cavanaugh (Can anyone find information on the USS Cavanaugh? I drew a blank). There is mention of the 15 cwt truck on the island, was it a CMP?. Western Command provided great assistance with the construction of the latrine and major cleanup throughout the island. Ross Keller gave a tour to Catherine Gilbert, the author of "Yorke Island and the Uncertain War" and hosted a 70th Anniversary gathering.
